U.S. Public Health Services -- Office of Force Readiness and Deployment (OFRD) Field Exercises

DMCA provided training, consultation and support for Field Training Exercises for the Public Health Service Office of Force Readiness and Deployment. These exercises have the purpose of preparing Public Health Service Commissioned Officers for deployment in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency situation. During the field exercises personnel would be trained in a variety of emergency-related subjects including triage, occupation of buildings of opportunity, basic life support, terrorism response, epidemic response and community organization in response to a disaster. DMCA’s role was to provide subject matter experts as well as logistical consultation and support.

DMCA provided curriculum development, curriculum evaluations, training effectiveness studies, and preparedness guidance in support of the Public Health Service Office of Force Readiness and Deployment's ongoing mission to prepare its personnel to be ready in the event of a natural disaster or similar situation where deployment would be a possibility. OFRD’s mission in such a situation is to provide leadership, management and coordination of resources amongst the various organizations within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Office of the Surgeon General (OSG).
